The acclaimed Quincentenary album, featuring Spanish and Italian music from the Christian, Jewish, and Moorish cultures at the time of Columbus: musical evocations of the fall of Granada and Arab-Andalusian culture in southern Spain; court and church music during the reign of "the Catholic kings," Ferdinand and Isabella; and traditional ballads of the Spanish Jews exiled by the Edict of Expulsion.

CD 2 - CANTOS DE ESPAÑA: Medieval Journeys Through Time

Includes two important medieval song collections: (1) The 14th-century pilgrim songs from the Llibre Vermell ("Red Book") of the monastery at Montserrat in Catalonia; and (2) Martin Codax's haunting Galician-Portuguese lyrics of spiritual and amorous longing, Cantigas de amigo (13th-century). Also: traditional Judeo-Spanish ballads of wanderings in exile.
